yue ying (shin sangoku musou)

Shin Sangoku Musou/Dynasty Warriors's portrayal of Lady Huang, Zhuge Liang's wife.

Her classic appearance makes her clothed in armor and gives her dark auburn hair, as an homage to the challenge she gave to her suitors in folklore (she claimed she was ugly, that she had tanned skin, red hair...), and she is armed with a dagger-axe or "ge".

Her modern appearance varies between games. Her early appearance in Shin Sangoku Musou 5 gives her a lighter red hair color, somewhat tanned skin, a facial mark and she is armed either with a bow or a crossbow/dagger gauntlet weapon (termed the "blade bow") that she presumably invented.

Her later appearances toned down her hair color (now a light auburn) and her skin color. In Shin Sangoku Musou 6, she is armed either with a staff or her classic dagger-axe. In 7, it's either her dagger-axe or the blade bow.

Regardless, she is always portrayed as a brilliant inventor. The wood oxen, the juggernauts and the various animal-like weapons she spawns in her musous all came from her inventive mind in the games.
