A waistcoat is a vest with buttons on front that is commonly worn over a dress shirt with necktie or bowtie (if applicable) and below a suit jacket or coat. It is a part of most formal wear, and as the third piece of the three-piece male business suit. Sometimes waistcoat is featured on school uniforms.
