The second mothership title in the Tales of series developed by Namco for the Playstation 1, then entirely remade for the Playstation 2.
It follows Tales of Phantasia's gameplay very closely, but is credited for introducing the concept of skits - in the original Japanese PS1 version, the characters speak to each other while walking on the overworld map. ToD is followed by a sequel, Tales of Destiny 2.
