shanks (one piece)
A character of One Piece. Captain of the "Red-hair Pirates", he used to be a crew member of "Pirate King" Gol D. Roger. He was the one who gave Luffy his signature straw hat and inspired him to become a pirate after he lost his left arm in a fight against a Sea King to protect young Luffy.
He's later revealed to be one of the "Four Emperors", world's four greatest pirates, along with "Whitebeard" Edward Newgate, "Big Mom" Charlotte Linlin and "Kaidou of the Beasts".
Unlike the other Emperors, Shanks does not possesses any Devil Fruit power. However, he is an immensely skilled Haki users. Having mastered all three types of Haki and used them to great effect in battle. In addition, he is a highly skilled swordsman, to the point that he is capable of contending with Dracule Mihawk, the "world's strongest swordsman" as one of his rival even after he lost his left arm.
The original owner of the straw hat is his former captain, Gol D. Roger.
He is the son of the world noble Figarland Garling and twin brother of Figarland Shamrock
