Shadow-chan is the reinterpretation of the shadow casted by a monument of the Soviet general Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov, located in Manezhnaya Square, Moscow.

This stems from a comment made in 4chan about a picture taken during the 2010 Manezhnaya Square protest, in which someone pointed out that the shape of the shadow projected by the statue resembled that of an anime girl.

Said comment received dozens of replies. Artwork of her was quickly made as a response, thus she left her mark in internet history.
