osakabe-hime (mythology)

A legendary nonhuman figure who dwelled in the Himeji Castle.
She is usually depicted as a lady wearing layered kimono. Her apparent age, true age, true identity, abilities and personality vary depending on story.
Her name may have come from the Osakabe shrine, whose shinto deity is said to be the guardian of the castle.
