monty mole
A mole enemy from the Mario series that first appeared in Super Mario World. They dig underground and pop out of holes to quickly pursue the player and will sometimes throw rocks. Monty Moles also appear in Whac-A-Mole themed minigames throughout several games and are also playable characters in more recent Mario Kart and Mario Party games.
Monty Moles are depicted as a brown and white mole with long claws, buck teeth and closed eyes. They wore sunglasses in their original design before being removed later on.
