Known as Rockman in Japan, he is the main titular protagonist of the original Mega Man series, first debuting in the game of the same name in 1987. He was given the name Rock (Mega) by his creator, Doctor Thomas Light, creating a pun with the name of his sister Roll, but he was dubbed "Mega Man" after being modified into a super fighting robot.
