magazine ejection

The separation of a detachable box magazine from its autoloading firearm, typically a semiautomatic handgun or a submachine gun or modern rifle. Under most circumstances this occurs when all ammunition from the magazine has been fired and the shooter is preparing to reload the weapon with another magazine.
