katsuragi (azur lane)

葛城(アズールレーン) 葛城 鹖

Azur Lane's personification of the Japanese aircraft carrier Katsuragi, the third of the Unryuu-class.
Character design by Izuru, voiced by Toda Megumi.

She has long black hair with prominent twintails and blue eyes. Her outfit consists of shide that she uses to tie the twintails, an unorthodox blue dress, white thighhighs, black platform footwear, see-through cape, shimenawa belt, and an unorthodox see-through hakama.

She uses a rig that is unorthodox of her standing as an aircraft carrier. Her rig prominently displays 12.7 cm DP twin mounts and 25 mm anti-air guns, reflective of the fact that she never fulfilled her intended carrier role. The rig does have two white banners, one on each side, that serve as her flight deck. As seen in the reference sheet, the red-colored marks are actually her real-life camouflage pattern.

In real life, she was completed late into the war and never received her air group, instead spending her career in Kure as an AA platform alongside her sister ship Amagi (of the Unryuu-class, not the battlecruiser Amagi). Ultimately, she survived the war and served as a repatriation ship (the largest surviving ship Japan could field in that role) before being sold for scrap in 1946.
