katawa shoujo
"Katawa Shoujo is a bishoujo-style visual novel set in the fictional Yamaku High School for disabled children, located somewhere in modern Japan. Hisao Nakai, a normal boy living a normal life, has his life turned upside down when a congenital heart defect forces him to move to a new school after a long hospitalization. Despite his difficulties, Hisao is able to find friends—and perhaps love, if he plays his cards right."
The game was released on January 4, 2012.
The story behind the game's development is quite unusual. The original idea for the game stems from a one page sketch by the artist Honjou Raita. A translated version of the page (Danbooru post #22437) was posted on 4chan on January 4, 2007. The post received a huge response and eventually a group of people emerged that was highly dedicated to realizing the creation of the game. These people formed Four Leaf Studios and continued to work on it.
