The announcement of the light novel went viral on Twitter after being shared by Manga Mogura, with the title "The Dark Brown Latina Girl Is Aiming For My Body", initially due to the absurdity of the scenario.

The initial "title" was later revealed to be mistranslated, with the title indicating that the main female protagonist was called "Latina" (ラティーナさん as opposed to ラテン系). The illustrator affirmed she was called "Latina", and later the author revealed that she was an indigenous Amazonian from Brazil, and that her name was a result of him asking AI for "the most typical South American female names".
