karnov

カルノフ

An original character that appeared in several martial arts and action-adventure video games developed by Data East in the 80s and 90s, becoming the company's mascot during that era.

Jinborov Karnovski (ジンボロフ・カルノフスキー) also known as Karnov (カルノフ Karunofu) for short, is a strongman popularly illustrated as being from an unspecified part of the Soviet Union's Central Asian Republic.

He is a big and fat, shirtless, bald strong warrior with a long mustache and red baggy pants who is an expert in hand-to-hand combat and also has several magical powers, as well as the ability to throw fire from his mouth.

Karnov's first appearance was in the 1987 action video game of the same name. He also makes a cameo as the first end of level boss in the Dragonninja martial arts arcade video game from 1988.

Karnov also appears as the final boss of the Fighter's History competitive fighting arcade game from 1993 and as a playable character in its 2 sequels, Fighter's History Dynamite (known in Europe as Karnov's Revenge) from 1994 and the final title in the series, Fighter's History: Mizoguchi Kiki Ippatsu!! released in 1995.
