kamchatka lily

クロユリ 黒百合

A species of flowering plant of the genus Fritillaria in the family Liliaceae, native to northeastern Asia and northwestern North America. Common names include Black lily, Chocolate lily, Kamchatka lily, and Rice lily.

Kamchatka lilies bear nodding, bell-shaped flowers that somewhat resemble tulips. The flowers are six-petaled and colored in shades of purple, reddish brown, or black, occasionally spotted or streaked. One of the distinctive features of the Kamchatka lily is its green pistil, which is divided into three sections, each with a relatively long tip. This feature helps to distinguish Kamchatka lilies from true lilies and tulips. The leaves are lance-shaped.

Note that its Japanese name, クロユリ (黒百合 kuro-yuri, lit. black lily), can be used for both fritillarias and black colored lilies (genus Lilium). Pay attention to the flower details.
