it should have been me not him (meme)

A meme originated from a scene from the English dubbed version of the Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters anime. The original scenes involves Yami Yugi dejectedly beating the ground and shouts "It should have been me, not him! It's not fair!", blaming himself for losing the shadow duel to Rafael and causing the soul of Muto Yugi to be sealed inside the card instead of him.

While the context of the original scene is that Yami Yugi is blaming himself for Yugi being punished by his failure, in meme context, the character is instead being shown to be envious of someone's good fortune.

This tag automatically adds meme (learn more).
