elizabeth f. beurling

エリザベス・F・ビューリング

Strike Witches: Suomus Misfits Squadron character.

Elizabeth F. Beurling is a witch in the 507th Joint Fighter Wing (AKA "Silent Witches", AKA "Suomus Misfits"). Her home country is "Faraway Land", which is a Britannian commonwealth that is analogous to Canada. Her familiar was originally the dachshund, however was later canonically changed to the Irish Setter. Her weapons are a Bren Mk. 1 Light Machinegun and a Gurkha knife. Her hair is brown in the ilustratons but described as grey in the prose.

Elizabeth is the "bad girl" of the Suomus Misfits: she is cold and often distant in demeanor, feeling no need to engage in niceties and openly resentful of authority or bureaucracy. Furthermore, she is a chain smoker and likely an alcoholic. Under this exterior, however, is a girl who is fond and even protective of her squadmates. Her relationship with Elma Leivonen and Anabuki Tomoko, in particular, are portrayed as close, if tumultuous.

Elizabeth is based on the #1 ranked Canadian RCAF ace George F. Beurling, known varyingly as the "Malta Spitfire" and "The Knight of Malta" for his success in the area. Both carried reputations for resenting authority, a sometimes astounding natural talent for aerial combat, and switching corps, however unlike Elizabeth, George was a strict non-smoker.
