A .36 caliber cap and ball revolver designed by Samuel Colt in the 1840s, and one of the most common pistols used in the American Civil War. The weapon is visually distinguished by its squared-off trigger guard and its hexagonal barrel.
The Colt Navy gained particular prominence in Japan where it was one of several weapons purchased en-masse for the Boshin War, as its smaller size and weight relative to many pistols of the time made it more comfortable to carry and use. In anime, the Colt 1851 Navy is the signature weapon of Kino from Kino No Tabi.
