bumblebee (movie)

The sixth live-action Transformers film, and a continuity reboot to the series. It was originally planned to be a prequel movie connected with Michael Bay's Transformer movies but it was later changed to be a reboot due to consistently negative fan reception to the Bay movies.

Directed by Travis Knight and starring Hailee Steinfeld and John Cena, the 2018 movie follows Bumblebee after he escapes from the Decepticons and lands on Earth during the 1980s, where he befriends a young punk girl named Charlie Watson. The movie received positive reviews by fans and critics due to its story, characters and usage of G1-inspired designs for the robots.

A sequel, titled Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, was announced for a June 2023 release, introducing elements of Beast Wars into the films.
