In English, the Berlin Television Tower. Originally built by East Germany from 1965 to 1969 to be a symbol of Communist power and the city, it became a citywide symbol of a reunified Berlin after German reunification, which was further reinforced by its monument status bestowed by East Germany being perpetuated after reunification. It is the tallest structure in Germany at 368 meters and the third tallest structure in the European Union. In addition to being a television tower, it also serves as an observation tower and houses a restaurant with a scenic view.
