    直裾 直裾袍

A style of hanfu that was worn as informal wear during the Spring & Autumn Period, Warring States, Qin, and Han Dynasties. Its construction is that of a long wrap-around robe with a y-shaped collar and a sash around the waist or hips. Its hem is straight, this detail distinguishes it from the Qujupao, which has a curved hem. These two styles are reffered to as "shenyi" and could be worn by any gender, making it unisex.

Shenyi could be confused to be kimono, but shenyi is really the predecessor to kimono. The garment was brought to Japan where it overtime changed and became the kimono. Shenyi is generally much simpler to put on, which can help to distinguish them.
