Tom Clancy's The Division is a video game series by Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment as part of the Tom Clancy line. Primarily an action RPG/looter shooter in the style of a third-person cover shooter, the series focuses on members of the classified American federal agency known as the Strategic Homeland Division - the Division, for short - with its agents activated sleeper-agent style in the case of extreme emergency to act with near-total autonomy to protect and serve. The first game takes place in the immediate wake of an act of domestic bioterrorism and viral pandemic in near-future New York City during Christmas winter, while the sequel takes place a few months later in Washington, D.C. in the summer. The aesthetic usually involves normal-looking individuals decked out with modern guns and advanced tactical kit, including their signature glowing orange watch, as well as use of augmented reality (AR).
