In Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica, demons are beings similar in many respects to witches. They are the result of Madoka's wish in the final episode erasing all witches from existence, and provides magical girls with something they can still fight so that Kyubey can still harvest energy to counter the forces of entropy upon the universe.
