    茶筅髷

    Historical Japanese hairstyle; a type of topknot, tied traditionally with motoyui.

    Its name derives from the fact it looks like a tea-whisk (chasen), combined with the word for hairstyle (mage).

    It was popular among young men during the end of Muromachi period, and fell out of fashion during the early Edo period.
